Kresge Community Natural Foods Core Member Application The Kresge Community Natural Foods co-op is now hiring for committed core collective members. The co-op is a very unique business and is completely student run. That means the only bosses and managers to report to are yourself and the entire group. Everyone in the core has equal responsibility for the upkeep of the store. Being part of the core involves working at least 1-four hour shift in the store each week and taking on quarterly tasks such as ordering, bookkeeping, maintenance, payroll and other duties necessary for smoothly running a business. All core members are also required to attend weekly collective meetings on Sunday evenings (place varies). These meetings operate on a consensus basis and issues discussed include business matters, group dynamics and cooperative work. The core member job is a large commitment but is fun, rewarding and extremely educational, and when it's really flowing, it's magical. This application is a large part of our selection process so please take this home and put some time and thought into it. However, applications must be turned in at the store by Wednesday, February 3rd by 5pm. In addition, there will be a preliminary informational meeting on Sunday, January 31st at 7 PM in the Kresge Seminar Room. We strongly urge you to attend this meeting if you are interested in becoming a core member. This will be an excellent opportunity to find out more details about what being a core member entails and if it is really for you. It also offers a chance for you to meet the current core members and for us to meet you. In the meantime, feel free to come by the store to ask questions and get a feel for how things work there. We will call you soon for a possible group interview on Saturday morning, February 6th. We look forward to meeting you soon and truly appreciate your interest in the co-op and time for filling out the application.
