Working Members

You may think that running a cooperative health food store is easy. If you did you would be mistaken. As the Core Collective we do a huge amount of work to keep the coop functioning properly but we cannot do it alone. If we do not do it alone, the question would be... Who helps? The answer...YOU!!! Well not exactly, the more accurate answer would be you if you are a working member.

What is a working member?
Working members are invaluble members of the Kresge Food Coop community. A Working members is responsible for working one hour per week each quarter they sign up. Work includes stocking, shelving, flyering, making signs, photocopying, produce, inventory, publicity, and more.

What does a working member get in return?
In return for a mere one hour per week working members receive a ten percent discount on groceries, priority when hiring new Core Collective members, often a working member potluck, and a sense of community with the Kresge Food Coop and other coops around campus.

How would someone become a working member?
Becoming a working member is easy. At the beginning of the quarter come into the coop, call us, email us your name, phone number and an hour that you would like to work or fill out the for below. Someone will get in touch with you soon after.
